Fiverr Fees: What It Really Charges

Updated: October 24, 2026 · WorkIsThere

Fiverr charges both sides: the freelancer and the buyer. Here we show each fee according to its help center, with worked examples, so you know how much really reaches your pocket.

Quick answer

Fiverr keeps 20% of every order, including tips and extras: the freelancer receives 80%. The buyer pays a 5.5% service fee and, if the order is under USD 200, USD 3.50 more. On a USD 500 order, the freelancer receives USD 400 and the buyer pays USD 527.50.

Freelancer fee: 20%

According to Fiverr's help center, the freelancer receives 80% of the payment for each completed order. The remaining 20% is the platform fee and applies equally to gigs, extras, custom offers and tips.

Unlike Workana, there are no tiers: it doesn't go down if you bill more with the same client or if you move up a level. A Top Rated freelancer pays the same 20% as a new one.

Buyer fee: 5.5% + USD 3.50

Fiverr adds a 5.5% service fee on the purchase amount for the buyer. On orders under USD 200, it also adds a flat fee of USD 3.50. Each payment is charged separately: if the buyer adds extras or leaves a tip later, that payment has its own service fee.

That's why small orders are proportionally the most expensive: on a USD 10 gig, the buyer pays USD 14.05 and the freelancer receives USD 8.

Withdrawal costs and clearance period

Once the order is completed, the money stays 14 days as a pending balance; Top Rated and Fiverr Pro freelancers have a shorter period. After that you can withdraw it via PayPal, a Payoneer account, bank transfer through Payoneer or the Fiverr Revenue Card, depending on your country.

Some methods have a flat fee per withdrawal (for example, transfer through Payoneer), and PayPal or Payoneer may apply their own fees and exchange rate when converting to local currency. Check the current values in the earnings section of your account before withdrawing.

Optional costs: Seller Plus and promotions

Fiverr offers the Seller Plus subscription for freelancers: Kickstart (USD 15 per month, for those starting out), Standard (USD 25 per month) and Premium (USD 49 per month), with discounts if you pay by the half year or year. It doesn't lower the 20% fee: it gives promotion tools, analytics and support. There are also paid ads inside Fiverr to show your gigs higher up.

Can you avoid Fiverr's fee?

Not within Fiverr: the fee is part of its terms, and getting a client to pay outside the platform is prohibited and can cost you your account. The legitimate way to avoid paying fees is to get clients on a platform that doesn't charge them.

On WorkIsThere the freelancer gets 100% and the client pays no fees: on a USD 500 job, the freelancer receives USD 500 and the client pays USD 500. Payment is agreed directly between the parties, with no money held.
